Azraïn - Graduation Movie

The hero of our story is a resourceful child, already protective of his little brother. At 13, he begins stealing to feed them. When he has 16, he become the pillar of his family. He learned how to survive, how to stay unnoticed, how to fight if necessary. At 23, he enters into the arena, ready to do anything for Noa, his little brother. Until his last breath.

Challenges

The main character presented major technical challenges during the rigging process.

  1. Weapons Integration - Dagger & Sword 

  • I've make a setup to use sword with one or two hands and also follow different constraints depend of what we needed : right hand, left hand or world space​

  • For the dagger i make a pin system to follow the boot, hand or world space. I also make an attribute to snap the dagger to the pin depends what we want between, hand, boot or world space

2. Two characters in one rig

  • ​We have two characters in one: the main character and the executioner, it's the same model with blendspahes body deformation, different costume and mask

  • Maintaining two appearances while keeping one rig functional. I need to make sure deformation, skinning, and animation controls work for both character without conflicts

3. CFX / Cloth Simulation

  • I've make cloth design on Marvelous Designer

  • I also make cloth simulation for each sequence, with different costumes and character, poses, and actions.

  • The clothes could interact with the geometry, behaved unpredictably, and were time-consuming to adjust. I had to make these adjustments on every sequence of the film, sometimes I had to go back and fix the animations to avoid gaps between body parts
